Lead Data Engineer

Tech - Paris - Full-time

Drivy is Europe’s #1 car-sharing platform with over 2 million users and 50,000 cars in 6 countries. We give city-dwellers convenient access to shared cars in their neighbourhood that they can unlock with their phones - while also liberating city spaces from unused parked cars. We’re constantly expanding to new cities, optimising our service and apps, and improving the customer experience, so we’re on the lookout for smart, passionate, and creative people to join our international team (with over 20 nationalities!).

What you'll work on:

You will join the engineering team (23 brilliant people!) as a Lead Data Engineer in our growing Data engineering squad (2 people). You’ll report to Michael and will take on many challenges:

• Help advocate and implement modern, agile software development practices within the team
• Take part in the development and evolution of the architecture of the data stack
• Gradually become the interface between engineers and data analysts to understand data needs and own the technical roadmap and the squad backlog
• Enrich and maintain our data pipelines
• Develop processes to monitor and ensure data integrity
• Instrument, monitor and build tools to manage our growing data infrastructure
• Help our data scientists push their models to production
• Define and manage the SLAs for all data sets

Our team has a great impact and high-leverage: it helps the entire company be more productive and make better decisions. We love to be open about the work we do. Some examples are:

Embulk

We also give back to the community by contributing on different projects like Redash, Apache Airflow, Telegraf, Embulk or many different Ruby projects.
Our main challenge this year is to make our data stack and pipelines more reliable to go from a model where data is used mainly for reporting and ad-hoc analysis to one where we can use this data in our product. Here are a few challenges we’re tackling in line with that:

• Ensure high SLAs on our core tables, making sure they have excellent freshness, reliability, and documentation
• Deploy our first ML models in production
• Setup a staging environment for our ETL

We’re building a marketplace that will scale to millions of users in many different countries in the coming years. You can imagine that there will also be many challenging problems that we haven’t even thought of yet!
